  Plan for Festival Passenger Flows

All checkpoints in Shenzhen will implement new measures to regulate smooth passenger flows during the Spring Festival holidays, the Daily Sunshine reported Saturday.

The new measures include more staff deployed for passenger service during the festival period, and a statutory pre-declaration procedure for travel groups.

Checkpoint workers would work hard to make the waiting time for passengers less than 30 minutes and for vehicle drivers less than one hour.

Travel agencies should submit all travelers' names and basic information via the Internet to checkpoints 24 hours before departure. All information needed to be faxed ahead to Luohu or Huanggang checkpoints.

Checkpoint authorities also expected to reduce the number of passengers at checkpoints by allocating new waiting areas for travel groups. At Luohu Checkpoint, travel groups would have to wait in the corridor linking the Shenzhen Railway Station and the checkpoint. In Huanggang, special waiting areas were allocated for group travelers on the first and third floors of the main building.

A group comprising staff from Hong Kong and Shenzhen checkpoints had been set up and would be responsible for exchanging instant information and coordinating emergencies.

More than 8.47 million passengers are expected to use Shenzhen checkpoints during the Spring Festival holidays, a 17 percent increase compared with last year.
