  Zhujiajiao and Setting-fish-free Bridge

Located in Qingpu County, Zhujiajiao is a well-known little town in the watery regions south of the Changiiang River. Small rivers with willow trees planted on both sides gently and quietly crisscross the town. Spanning the rivers are little stone bridges. On both banks of the rivers and along narrow streets and alleyways paved with gray stone slabs stand rows of houses of the local residents. Little bridges across bubbling streams, houses with courtyards
produces a feeling of antiquity, peacefulness and quietness in people who have been living for a long time amidst the bustle and hustle of the city. There is in the town an ancient street with Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings and teahouses with simple folk style serving 'grandma tea', attracting great numbers of domestic and foreign tourists.

The Setting-fish-free Bridge in Zhujiajiao Town is the best among all stone bridges in Shanghai. It is 72-m long, 5.8-m wide, with 5 openings spanning the Caogang River like a rainbow. This bridge was built in 1571 and rebuilt in 1814. There is on the bridge a stone tablet named Dragon Gate Stone carved with 8 coiling dragons encircling a shining pearl that looks very much alive. On top of the bridge are 4 stone lions welcoming visitors with smiles. The whole bridge is exquisitely shaped and impresses visitors with an imposing air.
